Saturday 1st July

On this night Samir Mouneimne created history for Hull and our own St Paul’s Boxing Academy!

After a hard fight against a talented opponent, he has become the English Feather weight Champion.

Head coach, Mike Bromby said, “We all should be so proud of our star who has dedicated his life to realise his astonishing talent.”

Afterwards an emotional Samir said “What can I say I’m on cloud 9. It was a hard fight and I had to dig deep. It’s been Twenty two months since not getting one round out since the Walsh fight. But not taking anything from Razaq the kid is a work horse and he came to perform an upset, he had nothing to lose and everything to gain he is definitely one for the future!

I want to thank the fans that came and supported me. It really does mean a lot to me.

And the main person I want to thank is my coach Paul Kershaw. This man put so much time into me, without him I would have given up a long time ago. I also want to say thank you for everything and creating my name now in HISTORY!!!

Also not forgetting the rest of the team who I want to say a big thanks to as well.

When asked what next? Samir replied.

“British Title”

Paul Kershaw said, I couldn’t be prouder, after many setbacks, not getting opportunities or when he has suffered controversial decisions Samir did not give up.

I always believed in him and his ability, he has a massive heart and talent to go with it.  He made history tonight. The build up to the fight saw great sparring sessions with Martin Ward, Tom Bell, and Ruhal Husain. We left no stone unturned. In the end all the dedication and hard work from Samir and his team paid dividends.”
