St Paul’s Boxing Academy is currently undergoing an ambitious refurbishment programme to completely modernise our gym facilities on North Church Side, Hull city centre.
The club has occupied the building since 1977, but with the wear and tear of daily use, it is no longer fit for purpose.
Our landlord, Hull City Council, is funding a complete refurbishment of the roof and the installing a disabled lift, which will enable us to increase the diversity of people we work with.
But the gym still needs completely renovating to include modern changing facilities, new floors, windows, doors, kitchen facilities, heating and ventilation, security, damp proofing, redecorating and new equipment.
The total bill for all of this is £500,000.
The good news is that with the help of some fantastic companies, organisations and individuals, we have already raised £271,000 towards our total.
But there is still a long way to go. We need to find a further £223,000 to complete the work.
That’s why we’re appealing to other businesses, organisations and individuals to help us reach our target.
The team at St Paul’s, who are all unpaid volunteers, carry out amazing work at the gym creating champions inside and outside the ring – people who go on to be great assets in our communities and workplaces. People who become role models to others.
