As Summer eases into Autumn here are a couple of diary Dates

First Home Show

St Paul’s Boxing Academy is pleased to confirm that their first competitive home show will take place on Saturday 6th October. So put this date in your diaries and come along to support your rising stars. More details to follow as the date draws nearer.

Dinner Night

As part of our fundraising efforts aimed at refurbishing and revamping the gym to ensure it is fit for a further eighty years of history making St Pauls has organised a Boxing Extravaganza and Dinner to take place on the 10th November. Details will be shared on how to book your place and buy tickets so watch this space.

30th July

No Let Up for St Paul’s Elite during the Summer Break.

Mike Bromby, Head Coach said that he is proud to announce, more great results from our St Paul’s Boxing Academy stars!

Harvey Lambert won a gold medal in the East Midlands Box Cup.
After a top class semi-final win, Harvey won a barnstormer against fellow England international Tom Aitchison of Knowsley Vale Boxing Club.

Harvey said after the final, “I’m delighted to bring back the gold medal not only for me and my family but for the coaches and team of St Pauls without whose support I would not have achieved this success”.


Mike also confirmed that our young female star Maddie Gittins representing England secured an impressive Silver medal in the Tri Nations Cup.


Mike said this result is “Pure Class and is a testament to the hard work and dedication Maddie puts in at the Gym day in and day out”. He went on to say “The Academy and her parents could not be prouder of her and we are sure she has a great future in the sport”.

19th July

Remembering a St Pauls Legend.

During a heartfelt celebration of Mike Brombys dad a large congregation of family and friends both present and passed joined together to bid farewell to a St Paul’s legend.

After the ceremony, during which those who attended listened to the story of Mike Bromby Senior life, Mike offered his heartfelt thanks to all his family and friends for celebrating dad’s life!


Mike said “It was a fantastic turnout that I’m sure made dad proud. Paul Hamby your service was inspirational”

All the coaches and committee members wish Mike and his family all the best in moving forward during this sad time

8th July

St Pauls Skills Presentation Proves a Success with the Parent

Parent, Susan Thomas said she was super proud of the boys today at their skills presentation Brooklyn got his first medal and Daniel smashed it as always even though he was nervous of the crowd and sparring with older kids well done boys.

She said “I just want to say a massive thank you to Paul Mays, Craig Kent and Kevin Docwra for making the day happen and always making the boys smile.”   

Paul said, “It was a fantastic skills day at St Paul’s today. I just want to say a massive thank you to all parents for their support. It was a pleasure to see these kids enjoying themselves and making friends for life.”

1st July

St Pauls Coach takes son on a sparring session.

St Pauls coach, Lynden Young took his son Joe to Burmantoft Boxing Club today where he enjoyed a great experience sparring with the European Junior and Schools squad.

Lynden said “Joe gave age weight and a lot of experience, but did excellent and held his own with quality lads today, it was a brilliant learning and experience for him, he will take loads away from today”.

23rd June

Yorkshire Elite take on Belgium Elite

Saw the arrival of a great team from Belgium who came to take on the best of Yorkshire talent including many of our own St Pauls Boxers.

Doors opened at 2.30pm in readiness of what turned out to be a spectacular afternoon and evening of boxing entertainment.

There was a great atmosphere and true respect at the St Paul’s Boxing Academy between all the boxers representing both Yorkshire and Belgium.

After the tournament both lots of opponents celebrated the success of the tournament by going out for a joint meal.

Mike Bromby declared the whole day and night to be a success and said this is what the world of amateur boxing is all about, respect both inside and outside the ring.

Mike confirmed that there will be a rematch over in Brussels during October.
